Hood River 101 Graduation

The City of Hood River congratulates the newest graduates of Hood River 101 Civics Academy! The City is proud to continue offering this program to the community. This year, the City partnered with The Next Door, Inc., to offer the course in Spanish, with financial support from the Oregon Immigrant and Refugee Funder Collaborative (OIRFC) to support programming cost.
Launched in 2023, the Civics Academy has now completed its third cohort. The program was created to increase awareness of City operations, break down barriers between the public and local government, build relationships, and foster future community leaders. Additionally, the City has worked to make the course accessible by providing meals and childcare.
Each of the City’s six departments contributes to the program by leading engaging, fun, and interactive classes, which include facility tours, games, equipment demonstrations, Q&A sessions, and presentations. The City thanks The Next Door for their collaboration and support in offering the course in Spanish, the City departments for their efforts in presenting the curriculum, and the participants for their dedication to learning more about the City.
The City looks forward to continuing this program and plans to offer the course again in Fall 2026.
