City Explores Bond Funding for Community Priorities

The Hood River City Council is exploring a ballot measure to address several longstanding needs that lack dedicated or sufficient funding. Hood River faces persistent challenges including a shortage of workforce housing, permanent shelter, and safe bike and walking connections to schools and businesses. Additionally, several City facilities — including the Police Department and Public Works building — require renovations and safety upgrades to meet the growing needs of the community.
“This effort is about planning ahead and giving residents the choice to make important community investments now that will keep Hood River a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family,” Mayor Blackburn said.
City Council will continue to refine potential projects and funding levels through the Winter. Upcoming steps include community polling to ensure that any proposed projects align with local priorities and needs, with the goal of placing a measure on the November 2026 ballot.
