Message from the Mayor

Mayor Kate McBride

Farewell to outgoing Mayor Paul Blackburn. Thank you for your years of service to the City of Hood River.

I’d like to welcome citizens to contact me via my city e-mail (k.mcbride@cityofhoodriver.gov) with their ideas about keeping Hood River the great place we know it has always been. I plan to continue Pie with the Mayor beginning the third Tuesday in November — stay tuned for time and place.

Witnessing the City expand from Belmont Avenue into the orchards where Rosauers now stands, and westward past Rand Road, reminds me that nothing stands still. Even our waterfront was changed by man to produce the land where so much industry and recreation happens, to the shifting sands of the Sandbar created by nature… Change is inevitable.

As the City changes, I would like to strive for a more equitable life for all citizens that make Hood River a great place. Please let me know how you personally think this should be accomplished. I am looking forward to working with the Council and our citizens to continue molding the changes that will happen in the future.

–Kate McBride
