Message from the Mayor
I would like to express my sincere thanks to Hood River residents, businesses and City staff for working hard to keep the community protected and the City operating optimally during a global health crisis. In addition to keeping essential workers and first responders safe, City personnel have adjusted to reduced budgets, moved to online meetings, changed operations to promote social distancing in the workplace, added remote work stations, worked to assist businesses and increased public communications during this period of Covid-19. Social justice has also risen in our awareness and continues to be a high priority for council and staff as we carry out City services. On top of all this, City staff has made substantial progress on Council’s 2020 Work Plan projects, with plans to accomplish more this year.
As we complete 2020 projects, City Council eyes its 2021 Work Plan and we are looking forward to evaluating Hood River City Council goals. Last year, 63 citizens offered input into Council goals and projects. We plan to repeat that survey process in the next two months. Input forms will again be available in English and in Spanish, on the City website and in paper form. We will promote this public input opportunity in multiple ways. Stay tuned to CityofHoodRiver.gov or the City’s Facebook page for announcements and links.
We look forward to an abundance of input from the community.
