City of Hood River Building Department:
Permits are issued to ensure that appropriate plans have been reviewed and the resulting construction is inspected to satisfy local, state and federal requirements. Permits help protect the health, wellness, and safety of our community. This further provides a guarantee on your investment and project.
Examples of scenarios that require a building permit include, but are not limited to:
- Build a new commercial building, residential home, shed or structure
- Build an addition to a commercial building, residential home, shed or structure
- Repair, renovate or demolish any building or structure
- Change the use and/or occupancy of a building
- Change, remove or install any required means of egress in a building
How to Apply:
Permit Submittals: Email Building or Mechanical Permit Applications along with applicable drawings, specs, calculations and data sheets directly to building@cityofhoodriver.gov. Digitally reviewed and approved plans will be required to be printed out to have onsite.
Payments: Make arrangements by contacting building@cityofhoodriver.gov. Please keep in mind credit card payments over the phone will be charged a 3% service fee, the City of Hood River also accepts over the phone e-checks at no extra charge.
Inspections: Schedule all inspections through Oregon ePermitting Inspection App (iOS or Android). Alternatively, inspections can be scheduled online at Oregon E-permitting or by leaving a message at 541-387-5211.
