A Message from City of Hood River Building During COVID-19
Dear Hood River Community Members:
To join you all in being positive stewards of Hood River the City of Hood River offices are working to ensure the health and safety of all our families and loved ones during the COVID-19 Pandemic. All City offices, except for the Police Department have been closed to the public since March 17th. We encourage customers, applicants, and residents to use email, phone, or our website to conduct business during our regular office hours. We appreciate your patience as we work to serve our community while updating and innovating our processes.
How you can conduct business operations during the closures:
Permit Submittals: Email Building or Mechanical Permit Applications along with applicable drawings, specs, calcs and data sheets directly to building@cityofhoodriver.gov. When required, hard copies will be mailed in for review. Digitally reviewed and approved plans will need to be printed out to have onsite. Alternatively, you can mail 2 hard sets of the documents required for a complete permit application to the City of Hood River Building Department at:

Payments: Make arrangements by contacting building@cityofhoodriver.gov. Please keep in mind credit card payments over the phone will be charged a 3% service fee, the City of Hood River also accepts over the phone e-checks at no extra charge.
Inspections: Schedule all inspections through the Oregon E-permitting App or by leaving a message at 541-387-5211. We are conducting inspections via Facetime and high-quality photos. We are still conducting onsite inspections for any new construction. The Building Department enhances public safety through the administration of state and local building and mechanical codes relating to building construction. The Department’s goal is to provide timely, efficient and thorough plan reviews and building inspections.
The City’s Building Department is responsible for issuing building permits and conducting fire and life safety and structural building inspections to ensure that all structures within the City are properly and safely built, remodeled and maintained in accordance with the applicable Building and Mechanical Code requirements and local ordinances. Hood River County Building Codes provides the plumbing and electrical portions of the program inside the City of Hood River. Electrical and Plumbing Permits are facilitated by Hood River County.
