Message from the Mayor
Happy Spring! I hope some of you have been enjoying our robust snowpack. It’s great for recreation, lovely to look at, and fantastic for our municipal water supply. The mountainside springs that feed each of our faucets (as well as the irrigation ditches for our valley’s ag) rely on snowmelt, so I’m glad we have lots this year.
I’ve been involved in a lot of intergovernmental discussions in the past months regarding a variety of City projects. I spoke with the offices of Senator Merkley, Congressman Blumenauer, Governor Inslee, Governor Kotek and County and Port Commissioners to dicuss our Rand Rd. housing effort, the Hood River-White Salmon Bridge, regional housing, traffic lights, homelessness, solar installations, and park lands. I’ve been enjoying renewing my work with longtime government colleagues and meeting new ones. Accomplishing our goals and serving our residents happens best through collaborative efforts with our neighbors. It’s often surprising to me how interconnected we are.
Lastly, I enjoyed my conversations at February’s “Pie With the Mayor” at Bette’s. It’s a pleasant format to hear from constituents about their thoughts about our great City. Keep an eye out for one in June at Pine Street Bakery!
Thanks for reading, see you around town.
Onward! Adelante!
Mayor Paul Blackburn
