To protect everyone’s health and safety during the public health crisis, we encourage customers, applicants, and residents to use the City website, email, and phone to conduct business with the City Engineering department when possible.
HOW YOU CAN CONDUCT BUSINESS OPERATIONS DURING THIS TIME:
PERMIT SUBMITTALS: Construction Site / ROW Permits Applications can be emailed to engineering@cityofhoodriver.gov, or use the drop off site in the foyer at the Public Works office – 1200 18th Street. Please include a site plan and detailed information of the proposed work with the permit applications.
PAYMENTS: We accept payment by checks or credit card. Remember if you pay with a credit card there is a 3% service fee. If you have any questions, please contact us at 541-387-5201, or email engineering@cityofhoodriver.gov.

Our Mission
The Engineering Department safeguards the public health, safety and welfare by establishing standards and providing information, recommendations and services for the construction, preservation and improvement of the City’s infrastructure including public facilities built within the City of Hood River and the Urban Growth Area.
The Engineering Department reviews plans, issues permits, and inspects construction to ensure that all work done in the public rights-of-way complies with City Standards and the approved construction plans and specifications.
