City Adopts Updated FEMA Flood Insurance Maps
The City of Hood River recently adopted updated Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) and related floodplain management measures. These updates are required for the City and our residents to continue participating in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).
FEMA has created an online resource to help property owners understand these changes. The resource includes information about flood risk, revisions to the flood maps, how the maps were updated, flood insurance, and state and local resources and contacts.
In May of 2025, the City, County and FEMA hosted a virtual informational meeting for property owners who may be affected by the updates. Property owners were invited to learn more about the proposed changes, how to submit appeals, and participate in a question-and-answer session about how the revisions could affect flood insurance and the types of uses allowed on their property.
