City completes PRV Replacement Project

The City of Hood River is pleased to share that work on the 20th and Rand Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) Project is now complete. Final paving wrapped up in May, marking the official closeout of the project.
This important upgrade involved replacing two aging PRVs to help maintain safe and reliable water service throughout the community. PRVs, or pressure-reducing valves, are essential components in municipal water systems that lower water pressure coming from higher elevations. In a city like Hood River, situated on a hill, PRVs help manage pressure differences caused by elevation changes, protecting pipes, equipment, and homes from excessive pressure.
The project improvements included the installation of new underground vaults, modernized pressure-regulating valves, and remote monitoring equipment to keep a closer eye on water system performance.
The City continues to prioritize proactive maintenance and infrastructure upgrades to ensure the long-term reliability of our water system. Projects like this one are part of our ongoing effort to provide residents with clean, dependable drinking water for years to come.
