The Hood River Urban Renewal Agency is launching a marketing campaign for its Middle Housing Construction Incentive (MHCI). This program aims to balance the development fee burden between larger and smaller homes through rebates funded by the Urban Renewal Agency.
New homes in the Westside District that follow the City’s Middle Housing Standards (generally defined as being 1,200 sq. ft. or smaller) or that meet certain size requirements for apartments are eligible for this incentive. While the incentive amount varies based on a project’s characteristics, it averages around $10,000 per dwelling unit.
Regional middle housing developers, local builders, and Westside District property owners with developable land will receive a brochure outlining the program. The Agency has also created a website to illustrate possible lot configurations under the City’s Middle Housing Standards (HRMC 17.25) with estimated MHCI incentive amounts (cityofhoodriver.gov/urban-renewal/middle-housing-standards-incentives/).
Builders and Westside District property owners interested in learning more are encouraged to contact the Hood River Urban Renewal Agency Administrator at w.norris@cityofhoodriver.gov.
