From the Fire Chief’s Desk: Staying Safe This Summer

As summer heats up in the Gorge, so does activity across our community. Whether it’s barbecues, mountain bikes, hiking, or water sports, this season is filled with energy, sunshine, and connection. At Hood River Fire, we love seeing our community out enjoying everything this area has to offer—but we also want to remind everyone to stay safe.
With increased temperatures and drier conditions, fire danger rises quickly. A single spark can do more damage than many people realize.
We’re also seeing more visitors in town this year, which means more cars on the roads and trails. Please keep an eye out for emergency vehicles and give us space when you see lights and hear sirens. This helps us get to those in need quickly and safely.
Lastly, make sure to stay hydrated, look out for one another, and don’t hesitate to wave if you see our crews around town. We’re proud to serve the City of Hood River, and we appreciate your support every day of the year.
Stay safe and enjoy your summer!
