Eugene Water/Sewer Construction

Construction on project-related water connections on 17th Street continue. Construction in this area is anticipated to continue for another two weeks.

April 30, 2024

In relation to the final stages of the Eugene Street Water and Wastewater Replacement Project, construction on 17^th Street from Sherman to May will take place to change over water services from the old line to the new one. During this phase of the project, which is expected to last about two weeks, this section of 17^th Street will experience single block closures and prohibit parking along the east side of 17^th Street. Local access will be maintained, as well as school drop off and pick up.

In addition to the work on 17^th Street, the construction crew is finishing up work on Eugene Street which includes an ADA curb ramp on 12^th Street and finalizing the curb on 10^th Street.

April 16, 2024

Construction will continue this week to wrap up the Eugene Street Water/Wastewater project with ADA ramps at 12^th and Eugene, as well as some work on 17^th between May and Sherman on the water system. This will completely disconnect the water services from the old lines and move them over to the new lines. This project is a part of a larger to replace lead-jointed waterlines and aging clay sewer pipes throughout the City.

December 14, 2023

Construction to replace the water and wastewater lines along Eugene Street from 9^th – 12^th street is nearing completion. Utilities, and paving are completed. Sidewalks and ADA curbs are expected to be completed this week. The final two ADA curbs on 12^th street are expected to be complete in Spring 2024.

October 5, 2023

Eugene St between 9^th and 12^th will be paved on Tuesday Oct. 10^th. They will be grinding the old asphalt out on Monday Oct. 9^th.

The road will be closed overnight Monday night and will reopen at the end of the day on Tuesday.

September 19, 2023

Work on the Eugene Water/Sewer Construction continues with the following milestones:

1. All waterline portions of the project are complete.
2. Sewer will be completed this week.
3. Rebuilding 10^th and 11^th between Sherman and Eugene has started this week.
4. Paving operations for Eugene are scheduled to begin October 9^th.

June 29, 2023

The City of Hood River is expecting to begin construction on the Eugene Street Water and Sewer Replacement Project on July 10^th. This first phase of the project will focus on Eugene Street from 9^th-12^th Streets. Travelers can expect the Westbound lane to be closed, with detours and flaggers rerouting traffic. Final paving is anticipated to be completed by mid-October, while side streets are scheduled for reconstruction during spring of 2024.
