Join Us! Upcoming Safety and Housing Bond Events
As our community continues to grow, city facilities need to keep pace to ensure that Hood River is an accessible community for those who have grown up and work here. City Council is considering placing bonds for the November ballot to address our housing shortage and upgrade our police station to meet basic standards. We are actively collecting input from the community to help evaluate our choices.
Housing Bond Town Hall and Panel Discussion

The 2024 State of the State’s Housing Report identified Hood River as Oregon’s most unaffordable community, surpassing even Bend. A voter-approved Housing Bond would allow the City to invest in needed housing types that are not being provided by the private market.
Join us for a Town Hall and Panel Discussion on Tuesday, June 23rd at 6 pm at City Hall, 211 2nd Street in Hood River.. The city is exploring a variety of models to use housing bond dollars: rentals, co-ops, and limited-equity ownership (e.g., Land Trust Model). The Town Hall is an opportunity to learn about different models, ask questions, and provide feedback to help us structure a bond that would best support the community.
Take a Tour of the Police Station at our Open House!

Modern police stations help officers do their jobs effectively by giving them the specialized space and tools they need. The Hood River police currently work out of a modified fire engine bay in the basement of City Hall. This basement was never designed to be a police station and lacks many of the features necessary for police work. After careful consideration and many years of exploring potential options, the city is exploring a construction bond to upgrade the police station into a space designed to help keep the community safe.
The bond would enable the City to renovate the basement and first floor of city hall so our police can better serve the community. Join us for an Open House and Tour on Monday, June 29th from 5-7 pm at City Hall, 211, 2nd Street in Hood River. The public is welcome to stop by to review materials, ask questions, give feedback, and tour the police facilities.
