City Council gave its approval of the multi-jurisdictional Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan, expected to be adopted by Hood River Valley Parks and Recreation District in September. This plan was developed with input and direction from Hood River area residents. It inventories and evaluates existing park and recreation areas, assesses the needs for acquisition, site development and operations, and offers specific policies and recommendations to achieve the community’s goals.
The Parks Master Plan will be a guiding recreation plan for the Hood River Valley reflecting current community interests and recreational opportunities in a vision for a cooperative, inclusive and interconnected system of parks, trails and open space that promote recreation, health and environmental conservation.
Hood River Valley Parks and Recreation initiated and managed this significant project with help from Hood River County, the City of Hood River, the Port of Hood River and Hood River County School District.
