The City provides leaf drop-off to city residents at its Public Works facility between 8:00 a.m and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday as a free fall season service. The service begins October 5th and ends at the first seasonal snowfall. Residents will be required to empty any bagged leaves. This service is for city residents only (no landscaping businesses).
The City Public Works department is located at 1200 18th Street. For further information, call 541-386-2383. If you would like to have leaves for mulch, please call Marlo Messmer at 541-387-5201 with your name, address and phone number.
Other yard debris (including grass clippings, branches and other brush) must be placed in organic waste roll carts for pick up by Hood River Garbage Service on regularly scheduled pick up days or delivered to Hood River Garbage Transfer Station at 3440 Guignard Road (541-386-4676).
Businesses and residents are reminded that leaves must not be raked or blown into the gutter as they can plug storm drains and cause flooding. If there are catch basins near your property, please help keep them clear of leaves and debris to assist water drainage.
It is a property owner’s responsibility to keep sidewalks adjoining their property in safe condition. Please remove leaves from sidewalks. Owners are liable for damages and injuries resulting from unsafe sidewalks adjacent to their property.
Also, please make sure all garbage cans are placed in a safe place off the street to allow street sweeper accessibility.
The City Public Works department thanks residents and businesses for their help in keeping Hood River clean and safe.
