City seeks public input on parklets and temporary uses.
In 2020, the City of Hood River initiated a pilot program to help food and beverage businesses expand dining capacity outdoors in response to state-mandated restrictions on indoor activities. This program allowed businesses to temporarily use parking lots and parking spaces in front of their business for parklets and cafes. Parklets are semi-permanent, protected dining platforms. Similar accommodations have been made in cities across the country. Six businesses in the downtown, waterfront and heights business districts participated in the program, all reporting positive results. The city seeks input from the public about these parklets as it plans for their use in 2021. Please take a moment to offer your feedback.
