Message from the Mayor

Hello! Summer is nearly upon us, and it’s expected to be a hot one. While that means opportunities for swimming and outdoor recreation, wildfire risk is always top of mind. I am grateful for our first responders, who are always ready to respond when emergencies occur.
We have a lot to celebrate this summer. After years of work, the first residents of Mariposa Village will soon be moving into their new homes. This project has truly been a labor of love, and we look forward to continuing our work with partners to bring more housing options to our community.
One way we are exploring solutions to our housing shortage is through bond funding. We have several upcoming community events where you can learn more about how the proposed Housing and Safety Bonds would work and what they could mean for the community. We are also exploring upgrades to the Police Station to ensure our officers have the tools and space they need to best serve residents.
I am also pleased to share two additional milestones highlighted in this edition. After a year and a half of negotiations, the City is set to gain jurisdiction of 12th and 13th Streets, which are currently a state highway. This will allow us to make the bicycle and pedestrian improvements outlined in the Heights Streetscape Plan. Lastly, we are also celebrating the completion of our stormwater replacement project. A big thank you to all those who helped make this project possible.
There are many wonderful events happening throughout the City this summer, and I hope to see you out enjoying them.
Onward! Adelante! Mayor Paul
