A Message from the City Manager
Thank you, Hood River, for such a warm welcome. My family and I have been busy getting to know our new neighborhood, school, and community. We are so excited to be here and look forward to seeing you around town.
Since starting my new role in August, I have been busy getting to know the Mayor and City Council, the community and the organization. It has been a wonderful time to listen and seek to understand those things that make Hood River unique and special. Thank you to everyone who has taken time to introduce themselves and tell me what they cherish about Hood River.
I’ve also been spending time getting to know the staff in the organization. It’s been so gratifying to meet with members of staff who wake up every day committed to serving the community. From Public Works to Fire and Police to City Hall, I’m impressed by the level of commitment that these employees show for their jobs and fellow community members.
In her book, “Who Do We Choose To Be? Facing Reality, Claiming Leadership, Restoring Sanity,” Margaret Wheatley talks about the importance of interconnectedness. She states, “We may be strangers…., but we can become neighbors if we decide to work together on building something good. For good.” Hood River is building something good. And I look forward to being a part of your efforts.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve this community.
