Saving energy in the City
The City of Hood River continues to focus on its environmental sustainability goals to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions in City operations by 2035. On-track to reduce its annual emissions 78% by 2035, the City’s remaining 22% reductions will depend on additional energy-saving innovations and carbon offsets.

Residents of Hood River are encouraged to do their part to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and save money on their energy bills. The Hood River County Energy Council and Plan recently launched a new website at hoodrivercountyenergyplan.org which outlines its vision and goals, as well as resources to save energy at home. Resources include information about residential energy use, solar energy, clean vehicles, incentives for energy projects, and more.
The Energy Plan was adopted in 2018 by Hood River County, the City of Hood River, the Port of Hood River, and the Port of Cascade Locks. It’s a blueprint for improving community energy resiliency, increasing energy independence, and increasing economic benefits related to energy use in the County while reducing emissions from the burning of fossil fuels. The Work Plan was updated in 2022 and is available on the website.
The Hood River County Energy Council is an 11-member community-led advisory group that guides these efforts. Take some time to learn about the Hood River County Energy Plan, and how you can help our community reach the Plan’s vision and goals.
