City of Hood River Work Plan

Projects undertaken by the City of Hood River to meet the community’s long-term needs.

The City Council Work Plan establishes the key priorities for Hood River’s City Council. The work plan helps ensure that the organization is aligned with Council’s priorities to the community.

In addition to the goals and projects described in the Council Work Plan, City staff and resources are employed in routine service delivery supporting the community, including:

  • Community identity & standards (land use, permitting, planning)
  • Public safety (police, fire, emergency medical services, municipal court, building codes administration)
  • Community infrastructure & appearance (basic services such as water, sewer, and roads).

2025-26 City Council goals are:

City Council participated in a 2025-26 strategic planning work session December 2024. In preparation for the annual work session, the City of Hood River sought community input and ideas on goals, projects and strategies to help achieve them. The City Council’s annual work plan session provides an opportunity to revisit high-level goals and identify key projects to be undertaken by the organization.

City Council participated in a 2022 strategic planning session in March. Each year, the City Council’s annual work plan session provides an opportunity to revisit high-level goals and identify key projects to be undertaken by the organization. In preparation for the 2022 goal-setting work session, the City sought and accepted public input and ideas through Sunday, January 16, 2022 via an online form and printed/PDF form. Many thoughtful ideas were received on projects to help move City Council’s goals for the community forward. The City received 98 community input responses with wide ranging comments and ideas. All input was compiled and reviewed by Council prior to the annual Work Plan session. To maximize Council’s time during these strategic planning events, additional input cannot be accepted at the work session. The March work sessions reviewed progress on the City’s 2021 Work Plan, and explored goals, projects and strategies to continue the City’s focused work. The City of Hood River thanks all community members who participated in City’s Council Work Plan survey.
