Hood River Now Features Two New Traffic Lights
The City of Hood River is pleased to announce that two new traffic light installations have been completed.
After months of closure, the 2nd and Oak intersection reopened as planned before the Memorial Day holiday weekend. The City is grateful for the diligent work of the project team and contractors to meet this deadline before the busy summer season begins. In addition to the traffic light, the new intersection also features brand new ADA curb ramps, curb bump-outs, crosswalks, and a repaved 2nd Street.
The City thanks the community for following signage to ensure the safety of the crews and allow for efficient work. The City also appreciates the patience and understanding of downtown businesses during the closure, including the noise and disturbances.
The traffic light installation and intersection realignment at Rand and Cascade, a project which spanned nearly a year, has also been completed. The City is grateful to the Oregon Department of Transportation team for their work to make this intersection safer for all users. In addition to the traffic light, the intersection was completely realigned, and now features a painted crosswalk for the first time, greatly improving pedestrian safety.
Those traveling through these intersections may encounter some workers performing remaining tasks to finalize the projects, so please continue to use caution.
